ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to determine the vascular supply of the septum interventricular vasculature, which provides nerve conduction and interventricular balance, to establish a working background for future research to determine contemporary diseases.
In this study, 30 merinos sheep hearts were used. In the laboratory, the left atrium was closed surgically, at first. A cannula was placed in the ascending aorta. To facilitate the dissection of the coronary arteries, latex colored with red ink (100 mL monomethyl methacrylate, 21 gr powder, poly methylmethacrylate and 8 gr ink) was injected into the coronary arteries. Latex-given hearts were placed in 10% formaldehyde solution followed by %5 KOH solution at 40 °C.
The branch that feeds the septum interventriculare was found to be the first branch of r. interventricularis paraconalis, r. septalis. The mean length of the r. septalis septum interventriculare before giving its first branch was 4.32 mm and 1.68 mm in diameter, and the mean length on the septum was measured as 37.2 mm. It was determined that it gave 7.5 branches along its course. The following r. septalis, ramie septales were seen in 80% of the cases. While descending to the apex from the top of r. interventricularis paraconalis, it gave an average of 13,17 branches from the posterior, and all of them supplied blood flow to the septum interventriculare. It was observed that the ramus ventriculi dextri branch of a. coronaria sinistra provided blood supply to the posterior part of the septum interventriculare (96.7%). Experimental studies have shown that both the right and left coronary arteries can be interrupted, leading to irreversible problems in the structure of the heart muscle.
Approximately 4/5 of the arterial supply of the septum interventiculare was provided by the ramus septalis and the remaining 1/5 by the ramus ventriculi dextria of the circumflexus sinister. It was determined that there was no contribution of the right coronary artery to the blood supply of the septum interventriculare.
